Computer mods for Pink Floyd Fans

April 7, 2008

Pink-floyd3b
This is by far one of the craziest PC case mod I’ve ever seen. It was first spotted at MNPCTECH, the base of the theme for the mod is the “face in the wall” and it’s actually acts as a cool air vent. If you’re a die hard Pink Floy fan like I am, this is a definately must have! Read more

Pelican iMCruzer carries your iMac in the smartest way

March 4, 2008

This is serious protection!  Looks like some military grade case!

imcruzer
The new iMCruzer Apple iMac Carrying Case is all set to become indispensable among Apple iMac users who have to carry this slick desktop with them to every possible location on earth. The ingeniously designed Carrying Case from Pelican is not only indestructible but also airtight, watertight with foam interior that protects the Apple iMac 20 and 24-inch computer with its aluminum keyboard and mouse from the jerk and shock of moving on any road. The retractable handle and wheel enables the carrier to roll the iMCruzer on a smooth surface in an airport, railway station or in the convention halls. To ensure that the iMac in the carrying case receives the least jolt while being lifted into or out of a car or an airport transport vehicle, Pelican has added two mangle-proof fold-down side handles in the iMCruzer. The iMCruzer weighs 38 lbs and costs $495.

Sandisk Shows Off Their USB Bling

January 10, 2008

Sandisk USB Necklace

If I told you that there were a ton of USB flash drives on the market, it would be a great understatement. It seems that everyone and their brother has a great idea for a cool-looking drive. Unfortunately this leads to many drives being sold that are well, ugly. Then again ugly to one is beautiful to another. Here’s an interesting USB necklace that I just can’t make up my mind about.

This interesting necklace from Sandisk is a hand-made gold pendant (sorry, we don’t know how many carats the gold is) with an Onyx center and a tiny diamond (again, no carat information). The diamond marks the handle which you’ll use to pull out the flash drive. The drive itself will contain somewhere between 4 and 12GB of storage. As for the price, it was apparently too high for them to mention at the show.

Barry’s Farm Robot Laptop Sleeve

November 10, 2007

I found a selection of adorable laptop sleeves from Barry’s Farm a few weeks ago and PetSugar actually purchased one with an “awww” worthy hedgehog print, prompting jealousy from all the gals in the office. I’ll admit though, the designs I showed you were a tad girlie and a few male readers emailed asking if the company has anything for those with more masculine tastes. Boy do they ever! The Barry’s Farm Robot Laptop Sleeve, $40, features a cute robotic figure and customizable phrases like “Zorp!” on it.

Samsung High-Performance 64GB SATA II SSDs

In March of last year Samsung introduced a 32GB PATA SSD, which was followed by a 64GB SATA I version a year later. (March 2007) Well the company is now introducing a SATA II version of their 64GB SSD which not only promises faster read and write times, but less power usage as well.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced memory technology, has become the first in the industry to sample 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch 64Gigabyte (GB) solid state drives (SSD) with a super-fast SATA (Serial ATA) II/native SATA interface. With a sequential write speed of 100Megabyte per second (MBps) and sequential read speed of 120MBps, the SATA II SSD is poised to expand the market for solid state drives from notebook PCs to corporate servers and other high-performance storage applications.

While 64GB doesn’t seem that impressive given the terabyte-sized hard-drives we now enjoy, I can also remember a time in the not-too-distant past when I couldn’t imagine filling up the massive 1.6GB drive on my first PC.
