Ferrari California
May 30, 2008
Next to my favorite car company I would have to go with a Ferrari. I know so is every other guy on this planet. BUt I’ve been pretty impressed with the latest Ferrari California, I just love the curves they’ve added to this new model.
This is the first picture I’ve seen with the roadster’s hard top up!
“The California is, like all of our models, the epitome of cutting-edge innovation.” The new hard top can apparently change state in a mere 14 seconds… source. Autoblog

Real Aston Martin DB6 Couch from Aston Martin Heritage Designs
February 6, 2008
I think this is as close to an Aston Martin as I’m gonna get.. well this year

So you haven’t the dough to get the whole car yet, but if you still want to have at least a piece of the devilish pleasure that is the Aston Martin, then this Aston Martin DB6 Couch is as good as the secret midnight ice-cream snack! The couch is shaped like the rear seat of an actual AM DB6 with a silver birch finish and red leather upholstery, which as you know is the signature staple of the classic car. The company, Aston Martin Heritage Design, however, is willing to give you any color combination you wish to have so you can match your superb couch with the rest of your lounge décor. You will have to dish out around $7,300 for the couch alone (headrests not included), but hey this is real Aston Martin merchandise we’re talking about!

Firetruck With A MiG Engine
November 6, 2007

When a fire breaks out, any amount of time it takes for the fire department to arrive is too long. So in theory, a 2003 Ferrara pumper truck that’s been outfitted with a Mikoyan Gurevich (MiG) jet engine should dramatically cut response times right? As long as there’s an absolutely perfectly straight path between the firehouse and the actual fire that is.
But unfortunately this firetruck has had to make some sacrifices in the name of speed. The most problematic being the removal of its water tanks in order to accommodate the engine and the fuel tanks it requires. So while the pumper can deliver firemen in record time, it won’t be able to do much else except maybe start another fire as a result of its afterburner.

Kenwood Pen-Based Navigation System
November 5, 2007

I don’t knowhow well this will work while you’re driving
Kenwood has come up with a clever way to bridge the gap between traditional printed maps and GPS units for those who might not be gadget-inclined. Shown at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, the navigation system just requires you to point to any place on the map where it will then be displayed on the GPS-equipped electronic unit. At that point you can presumably get turn-by-turn driving instructions or other information about your selected destination.
I assume the system uses specially printed maps for interacting with the pen, but I have no idea if it’s destined for production or is nothing more than an auto show concept.

Street Legal Ferrari FXX - As Elite As You Can Get
October 30, 2007

Dam that’sa HOT CAR!
For those who don’t know, the Ferrari FXX is kind of a ‘race-ready’ version of the Ferrari Enzo, and is far from street legal. In fact, the car costs $2.5 million and if you’re lucky enough to own one of the 30 in existence, you can only drive it on special track days at the Ferrari facilities.
But it seems one owner in Switzerland decided he didn’t want to be told when he could drive his $2.5 million investment, and so spent another $250,000 to make the car street legal. I really have no idea what goes into making a vehicle like this legal to drive on public roads, besides safety lighting, license plates and large payoffs to people at the department of motor vehicles. But if you want your car to stand out, driving the only street legal FXX on the planet is the way to go.
Let’s just hope this one doesn’t end up as a twisted wreck one day, like so many Enzos before it.

Three Chinese Dudes Build Transformer from Citroen C2
October 11, 2007

Transformer Fans… this is awesome!
A trio of Chinese friends came up with their own Citroen C2 Transformer. They call the Transformer-like robot Autobot X2 and it does a good job of resembling Bumblebee from the movie. Let’s hope they gave their version a more appropriate voice for a Transformer.
The robot is said to weigh over 1323 pounds and the builder’s say they spent about $8000 constructing the gizmo. Next on their build list is reportedly Optimus Prime. Who knows what they intend to do with the robot now that it is complete. I’d hate to have that giant robot fall on me, I wonder how if it is free standing or has supports you can’t see in the image. Too bad it doesn’t really transform.
